This afternoon, meet your guide and drive to the stunning coastal Tanah Lot temple located on a rock island in the sea. Without a doubt, it is the most famous and photographed place in Bali. This sacred Hindu temple sits majestically on a large offshore rock which has been shaped over the years by the crashing waves of the surrounding sea. After taking in the views of the temple exterior and the unusual rock formations, drive to nearby Mengwi for an unforgettable Balinese dinner. On arrival, make your way through a rice field along a path illuminated by flaming torches. The flickering lights lead you to a traditional Balinese pavilion that overlooks a small river and the surrounding rice paddies. Take a seat at the table and relax while the waiter brings many traditional dishes. This elaborate meal consists of flavorful Indonesian dishes accompanied by rice. To further compliment the meal, you will be served a bottle of chilled Tunjung Brut, a sparkling Balinese wine produced from Indonesian grapes. Following dinner, you'll be transferred back to your hotel.
Experience a hands-on cooking class and learn how to whip up some delicious traditional Balinese dishes! The morning starts by meeting your host and the other guests who are joining the class. Together stroll around the colourful market in Ubud where the locals bargain for the best produce. Browse the stalls piled high with colourful vegetables, tropical fruits, exotic spices and fragrant herbs. The host will explain the different produce, how it is used in Indonesian cuisine, and will offer tips on selecting the best ingredients. Back at the cooking class, you will be shown how to recreate age old traditional dishes using curries, sambal and the freshest seasonal vegetables. The class is completely hands-on so you will grind the different spices and learn how to use the various utensils in preparing the dishes. The class ends with a delicious lunch where you get to enjoy your own homemade Balinese feast.
Embark on a day of spiritual discovery and cultural immersion as you visit Bali's sacred Tirta Empul Temple and meet local Balinese families. Start by exploring Tirta Empul Temple, famous for its holy springs, which flow into Bali's rivers and fields, sustaining both the island's people and nature. For centuries, Hindu worshipers have visited this temple to bathe in its purifying waters, a tradition that continues to this day. Next, meet the descendants of the renowned artist Mr. Ida Bagus Grebuak, whose paintings have been showcased in the Netherlands. His artistic legacy has been passed down through three generations. Visit their home and learn about their efforts to teach village children the art of painting. Continue your journey to a workshop where Mr. Komang Arya creates intricate gold and silver designs, collaborating with local youth. In addition to jewelry, he crafts ceremonial pieces for Balinese priests and large-scale dragon artworks. End your day with a peaceful walk along the rice fields, leading to a scenic garden for a delightful lunch in local house with panoramic views of the lush rice terraces.
