On this private half-day tour, you will start by visiting Ios Chora or Ios Town, the main village, located on the western side of the island. See the traditional windmills of Ios, surrounded by beautiful, colourful gardens. There are a total of 12 traditional windmills with 3 of them completely restored. These charming structures serve as a reminder of the past when the islanders used the power of the wind in everyday life. Then, take a stroll around the picturesque village with its characteristic alleyways, flat-roofed house and narrow stone paved streets winding like a labyrinth. Next stop is to the church of Panagia Gremiotissa, located at the highest point of Chora. This picture perfect church was built in 1797 AD and owes its name to its rocky location. From this wonderful landmark, you will enjoy a panoramic view of the town. The tour continues to a visit to the open Theater Odysseas Elytis, named after the Greek Nobel Prize winning poet and Homer's Tomb, the allegedly rest place of the famous ancient Greek poet. The last stop will be to Palaiokastro, a castle built at an altitude of 275 meters to protect the island from the pirates, where we will enjoy breathtaking views.
