Upon arrival at Cheddi Jagan International Airport, collect your bags, proceed through Customs, and then make your way outside of the Arrivals Hall to meet your driver, who will be holding a sign with your name on it. The transfer to your overnight hotel, known for its long and romantic history, takes about an hour and is an interesting journey of rural and urban scenery.

A short morning transfer to Eugene F. Correia International Airport leads to a scenic flight over the Demerara and Essequibo Rivers, continuing above the vast rainforest to Kaieteur Falls. Plunging 741 feet into a deep gorge, this majestic waterfall is five times the height of Niagara surrounded by pristine wilderness. Wildlife sightings may include the tiny Golden Frog, the rare Guiana Cock-of-the-rock, and Kaieteur Swifts darting through the mist. Upon returning to Georgetown, the evening unfolds along the Seawall, alive with Caribbean rhythms, street food vendors, and lively local gatherings. A guided exploration reveals hidden highlights of the city’s Sunday nightlife.

Take an early flight across the lush Guiana Shield to Fair View Airstrip, followed by a short land transfer to Iwokrama River Lodge on the Essequibo River. Start the day with an early morning boat ride, travelling along the Essequibo River circumnavigating nearby Indian House Island before returning to the River Lodge for breakfast. After breakfast, the day continues with a guided hike to Turtle Mountain, rising to 935 feet. From the summit, panoramic views reveal the expansive rainforest canopy teeming with birdlife and monkeys. For a less strenuous option, a boat trip to Stanley Lake may offer sightings of Giant River Otters and Black Caiman. In the afternoon, a visit to Kurupukari Falls includes a visit to a site hosting ancient Amerindian petroglyphs etched into the rocks. Arrival at Atta Rainforest Lodge provides access to the renowned Iwokrama Canopy Walkway, suspended 100 feet above the forest floor. Start the day with an early breakfast at a local stand with our host Chef Delven Adams, who will then take you on a tour around Bourda Market, the largest of the four major markets in Georgetown. Everything from fresh produce, bush medicines, and local culinary traditions can be found here. Selected ingredients from the market will later be featured in a cooking demonstration. Continue with a city tour that includes the National Museum, Walter Roth Museum of Anthropology, St. George’s Cathedral, Stabroek Market, and the Botanical Gardens. Finally, enjoy lunch at the locally renowned Backyard Café, where the day’s market finds are transformed into authentic Guyanese dishes. In the afternoon, a river taxi cruise along the Demerara River passes under the Harbour Bridge and offers sunset views of roosting Scarlet Ibis, herons, and egrets in the mangroves.
