Royalty Circuit - 3A - Lower Part & Huayna Picchu
This circuit focuses on the royal buildings in the lower part of Machu Picchu, starting with an impressive view from the agricultural sector. After snapping a few photos, you will carry on exploring the religious sector, host to the Temple of the Sun and the Inca's House. After visiting the lower part, you'll then make your way to Huayna Picchu Mountain. The hike to Huayna Picchu begins near the northern reaches of Machu Picchu and offers a challenging ascent through steep stone steps and narrow pathways, showcasing the impressive engineering of the ancient Incas. The trail becomes progressively more demanding, with handrails assisting you through rocky sections. Upon reaching the summit, the panoramic views of Machu Picchu, the Urubamba River, and the surrounding mountains are immensely rewarding. The descent requires careful navigation of the steep and sometimes slippery trail, and those averse to heights or with mobility issues should not undertake this activity. The entire hike takes approximately two hours, and perfectly complements the visit to Machu Picchu by rewarding you with uniquely fantastic views. Not for the faint of heart or those with mobility issues, this circuit is also not available to guests under the age of 18.
