Sanctuary Swala Camp
The only camp in this remote corner of the Tarangire National Park -- one of the most exciting yet least visited parks in Tanzania -- Sanctuary Swala offers total seclusion in a shady copse of giant acacia trees, looking out to the flat savannah beyond. The picturesque landscape is filled with ancient baobabs, passing elephants, and birds in flight -- the classic safari-scape of your imagination. Swala is Swahili for impala, which are plentiful in these parts, as are kudu, giraffes, buffalos, lions, cheetahs and leopards. Twelve luxurious canvas pavilions surround the main dining and lounge areas. Each tent has its own personal attendant to cater to your every need, including serving cocktails on your private veranda. The pavilions are open plan, with both indoor and outdoor showers. The peaceful common areas are lifted on stilts, and decorated in a contemporary African style.
Spend the day exploring Tarangire National Park with morning and afternoon game drives. Tarangire is Tanzania's third largest national park and a sanctuary for an unusually large elephant population. Majestic baobab trees are another interesting feature of the park, dwarfing the animals that feed beneath them. Animals concentrate along the Tarangire River, which provides the only permanent water supply in the area.

Here you will be met by your camp representative who will transfer you by road to Ngorongoro Conservation Area, arriving in time for lunch. Sanctuary Ngorongoro Crater Camp is located in the Conservation - situated on the Crater rim, offering spectacular views. Spend the remainder of the afternoon at leisure, soaking up the stunning views of the crater below.

Sanctuary Ngorongoro Crater Camp is located in the Ngorongoro Conservation Area - situated in the Ngorongoro Crater rim valley, close to the access road into the crater, giving guests unrivaled access to the crater floor. Ngorongoro is home to a large assortment of animals including zebra, buffalo, warthog, wildebeest, hippo and elephants; and an amazing population of predators - lions, hyenas, jackals, cheetahs and the elusive leopard.
This morning, descend to the crater floor in your 4x4 vehicle for a half day crater tour. The central bowl, the caldera, has sides roughly 1,950 feet high and a flattish centre with a diameter of about ten miles. The crater walls are forested but four-wheel drive vehicles will take you down into this primeval paradise of woodland, lake, river, swamp and plains that shelter around 20,000 animals.

After an early breakfast at your camp this morning, transfer to the airstrip in time for your onward light aircraft Tarime Airstrip, where you will be met and transferred to the Isabenia Border for customs and immigration formalities. Transfer to Migori Airstrip for your flight to Masai Mara where you are met and transferred to your camp. Time permitting, this afternoon head out on your first game drive in this famous reserve.
