Today you will be transferred from Monteverde to Arenal, making use of both vehicles and a boat to turn this point-to-point transfer into an enjoyable and scenic experience. The transfer begins at your hotel, where a private minibus will pick you up and drive for approximately 2 hours and 30 minutes to Lake Arenal, making a stop along the way if requested to purchase beverages, food and to use the washroom. Upon arrival to Lake Arenal, you will board a comfortable and safe pontoon-type boat and set out on a 45-minute sailing, arriving on the other side of the lake in due time, and disembarking just minutes from the many resorts and iconic sites of Arenal and La Fortuna. Lake Arenal is the largest and most important in Costa Rica. It is of artificial origin - built in 1974 in order to obtain hydroelectric power for the country - and is a place where you can spot a variety of resident and migratory birds, and often times mammals like monkeys and sloths. You will also take in excellent views of the Arenal Volcano when it is not cloudy. After disembarking from the boat, you will board an awaiting minibus which will privately transfer you to your hotel, taking roughly 20 to 30 minutes (depending on the location of your hotel). It is recommended to wear long pants, a coat, comfortable shoes, and a waterproof jacket. Approximate travel time is 4 hours and 30 minutes.

Following the brief transfer from your hotel to Arenal Mundo Aventura, you'll participate in a local safety orientation, then set out on a private horseback ride through the beautiful tropical countryside, en route to a forest path that leads to La Fortuna Waterfall. Upon arrival, your local guide will escort you on a walking tour along the trail, which will take you to La Fortuna Waterfall, one of the region's most impressive highlights. Here you can enjoy the views, take a refreshing dip in the cool waters, and soon after, start the ascent to the trail again. Near the end of the tour a healthy fruit plate at La Casa de Don Chico will enliven the closing of this relaxing activity, soon followed by the return private transfer back to your hotel.

Tortuga Island is located in the Gulf of Nicoya, just across from the Curú Wildlife Refuge. To reach it, you'll enjoy a scenic boat ride departing from Tambor, after your shared hotel pick-up alongside fellow travellers. The crossing takes about 30 minutes, and upon arrival at Tortuga Island, a delicious beachside BBQ will be prepared for you. You’ll be able to choose between fish, chicken, potatoes, and fresh fruit, served alongside cold beer or water. Here you will have about an hour to go snorkeling and discover the island’s remarkable marine life. If you prefer, you can enjoy other optional activities not included in the tour (paid for locally), such as banana boat rides, jet skiing, beach games, relaxing on sun loungers, or going on short hikes. After the exploration of Tortuga, you’ll be returned to your hotel.
Spend your day at leisure soaking up coastal charm. Relax on powdery golden sands or poolside at your hotel, or consider participating in a catamaran cruise to nearby coves. Snorkeling and paddleboarding reveal colorful marine life, while charming towns offer aromatic taquerias and boutique shopping. For a more local touch, visit a resident art gallery, a coastal cafe, or explore trails at a nearby nature reserve.
