Discovered in 1938 and later explored in the 1950s, Caracol was thought to be little more than a Maya ceremonial center. It was not until more extensive excavation efforts began in 1985 that the importance and expanse of Caracol became known. In 1986, a round, elaborately carved altar stone was uncovered which described a victory by Caracol over Tikal, once considered to be the most powerful Maya metropolis. This discovery filled an important missing piece of Maya history, covering approximately 140 years in the Middle Classic period, and positioned Caracol as the "Supreme" Maya city. The largest pyramid at Caracol, the Canaa, (Maya for "sky place") rises 140 feet and is the tallest man-made structure in all of Belize. Caracol is located 2 hours south of San Ignacio, in the Maya Mountains.

Join the captain and crew aboard a thirty-eight-foot catamaran as the western sky begins to fill with the golden glow of the setting sun. As it lowers behind the horizon, millions of diamond-like reflections tip each wave and ripple as far as the eye can see; you'll never forget the first time you experience this incredible display. Your return leg takes you in front of San Pedro, where you'll get a glimpse of what the town looks like at night. After a relaxing, serene and scenic experience on the gentle waters, you'll soon find that the ship has set course for docks on the mainland, where you'll soon disembark.

Experience two of Belize's most memorable marine highlights on this relaxing snorkeling adventure. Beginning with a Manatee Encounter, where you'll search for and snorkel with the gentle, slow-moving West Indian manatees in their natural habitat, you'll see these fascinating marine mammals in the shallow waters around Caye Caulker where they feed, rest, and move gracefully through the seagrass beds. Observing them in the wild is a truly special experience and offers a unique glimpse into one of Belize's most beloved species. Continuing, you'll reach Coral Gardens, a beautiful and relaxing place to snorkel on the Belize Barrier Reef. Known for its calm, shallow waters, it's perfect for snorkelers of all ages and experience levels. Beneath the surface, you'll discover large sea fans that seem to dance in the current and soft, waving corals, and an abundance of colorful tropical fish that bring the reef to life. The peaceful atmosphere and gentle conditions make Coral Gardens one of the most enjoyable places to explore Belize's underwater world. Whether you're hoping to encounter manatees up close or simply enjoy the beauty of the reef, this tour offers a wonderful combination of wildlife, scenery, and easy snorkeling in a stunning natural setting. After an adventurous and beautiful experience on the water, you'll return to the pier.
