Travel through the city of Adelaide northwards to the world-renowned Barossa wine region. Your first stop is Pindarie, a family owned and awardwinning cellar door, which feels more like an Australian Homestead than a cellar door. The friendly staff share their stories behind the wines as you sample their famous blends in the heritage sandstone stables, converted into a cellar door. Sit back and admire their stunning vineyard views while you enjoy some morning tea. There’s time for fun photos by a haystack framed by fabulous views dominated by shiraz vines. Next you will head to the main street of Tanunda, for some free time to explore the charming boutiques, galleries and shops. Enjoy a photo stop at Mengler Hill Lookout, with fabulous sweeping views across the valley. Then it’s onto Lambert Estate, with panoramic vineyard views and halls of local art. Here you will enjoy a delicious two-course lunch and a wine tasting, including their popular Chocolatier (Chocolate Port). After lunch, continue onto Chateau Tanunda, which celebrates over 130 years of winemaking history and is viewed by many as the birthplace of the Barossa wine industry. Home to some of the oldest Shiraz wines in the world, you will enjoy a brief guided walk around this magnificent property to share the architecture, grounds, winery facilities and cellar door. You will have time to explore the gardens and the stunning Chateau, while enjoying a taste of their wine. Next is a quick stop at the Barossa Valley Chocolate Company, where you have time to explore their chocolate shop. A viewing wall showcases the crafting of more than 250 chocolate products. Then it’s on to Maggie Beer’s Farm Shop, where you will have time to browse the collection of souvenirs to take home, or perhaps enjoy an afternoon treat with a tea/coffee (own cost). Finish the day with a drive along Seppeltsfield Road, one of the Barossa’s most iconic landscapes, with its historic palm-lined road and rolling hills.

Today, we’ll get a feel for Island Life – where things take time, drivers wave as they go by – or even stop for a chat. Have a cuppa with some home-made treats before taking a walk down a country track through tall Eucalyptus trees where koalas snooze overhead or wake briefly for a feed. Listen for the sounds of the bush – brightly coloured honeyeaters and brilliant parrots, cicadas or perhaps just the sound of silence. Travel through the Island’s most productive country to the north coast. Walk through the bush with your guide – through strangely shaped trees learning what makes that noise, whose tracks are those, and who left THAT little pile there? Look for small wallabies almost extinct on the mainland, a kangaroo found only on Kangaroo Island and a variety of other birds, plants and animals. Break for lunch at a private bush camp and enjoy a delicious meal featuring King George whiting (local sea fish), fresh salads and fine South Australian wines. At Seal Bay Conservation Park take a private tour with your guide among Australian sea-lions on a beautiful sandy beach – an experience similar to that of the Galapagos. Watch pups nursing or playing in the surf, see old bulls bearing the scars of territorial disputes and learn about their unique breeding biology.
